Hastings Tile & Bath Announces Their First CEU Course

Hastings Tile & Bath announced its first CEU has been approved for 2.0 CEU credits by AIA, ASID, IIDA, IDC and NARI. The course, sponsored by VOLA, is titled "The Influence of Scandinavian Design on Modern Bathrooms and Bathroom Technology" and it is available either face-to-face for 2.0 credits, or online for 1.0 credit through CEStrong (www.cestrong.com). The course provides a historical perspective of Scandinavian design and how that design aesthetic actually continues to drive both the technology inside and the design of today's faucets, showers, plumbing fixtures and accessories. Scandinavian design is all about simplicity and functionality; where every element has a purpose and nothing is over-designed. Arne Jacobsen and Verner Overgaard understood this when they designed the first VOLA faucet and the brand has never wavered from this defining principle. The CEU goes into detail about the history and also about how these in-wall systems work and why they work so well.

Bathroom Butler's New RIGID LOC Mounting System

Bathroom Butler has engineered and patented its own mounting system called RIGID LOC, in order to overcome the problem of loose bathroom accessories. With the RIGID LOC System on, the accessories remain firmly in place where a special T-shaped barrel clamps down and fits neatly into a groove. As the screw tightens, the T-shaped barrel slides down into place, pulling the accessory tight against the wall where it stays on securely. The RIGID LOC System has been tested vigorously in-house for its performance and durability.  A strenuous knock test was developed to simulate the vibration caused by using various bathroom accessories daily. The RIGID LOC System passed more than 100,000 knocks, which was incredible when it was compared to the traditional set screw fixation, which failed after only 300 knocks. All Bathroom Butler's bathroom accessories are manufactured from Grade 304 Stainless Steel which is eco-friendly and 100% recyclable.

California Faucets' New Morro Bay Single-Hole Faucet

California Faucets' new Morro Bay™ Series single-hole faucet features a radically thin handle that appears to be gently sailing above the faucet body. This groundbreaking ultra-thin planar floating handle design stands apart from typical single-hole faucets with handles that move along with a heavy, cumbersome hub. Cubist and contemporary, Morro Bay's streamlined design is stylishly square without the chunky look associated with most square single-hole faucets. A thin spout adds symmetry to the handle, creating geometric balance and fluidity, while accentuating the independent operation of the handle. The Zen in Morro Bay's design lies in the width of the handle, which equals that of the spout beneath and provides a harmonious counterpoint to the cuboid faucet body. Like all California Faucets bath fittings, the Morro Bay single-hole faucet is constructed of solid brass and available in 30-plus artisan finishes, including 15 PVD finishes with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing, and is available in heights of 5-5/16" and 11-9/16".

KEUCO Hosted Its Inaugural Design Tour

To intensify the dialogue with North America's specifying community, KEUCO hosted its inaugural Design Tour this past June.  A group of interior designers and architects from New York and Miami spent three days visiting the Ruhr region and saw firsthand how this former German center of coal mining and heavy industry is being transformed into a modern media and technology hub.  Of particular interest was the post-industrial repurposing of two former mining and production sites in Essen and Dortmund. A guided tour of the Zeche Zollverein, a coal mine turned UNESCO World Heritage site and leisure time destination for local and international visitors alike, gave the guests insight into the origin of many industrial production processes.  Equipped with this newly acquired information, the group went to visit to the KEUCO factory and showroom to experience first-hand the modern, state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and the freshly updated corporate showroom, dubbed the KEUCO Forum, to see and touch the latest product innovations.  Afterwards the guests were hosted by the team of architects responsible for the concept (and many the buildings) of the Phoenix Lake in nearby Dortmund-Hoerde.
