Laufen's Sonar Wave Bowl Receives 2018 Interior Design BoY Award

In December, Laufen’s Sonar Wave Bowl was honored in Interior Design’s “Best of Year Awards 2018” in the Bath:Fixtures category. The award marks the second consecutive year Laufen was recognized in the magazine’s famed BoY awards. In 2017, Laufen won in the Bath:Cabinetry category for the Katrell Floorstanding Washbasin. Expressive yet minimalist, Sonar’s formal language plays with arcs and angles, emphasizing the slender lines of SaphirKeramik. Barclay's Alma Cast Iron Wall-Hung Kitchen Sink

Go back in time with this rugged cast iron wall-hung kitchen sink form Barclay.  The Alma is 42" wide with a generous drain board and backsplash pre-drilled for a faucet with an 8" spread (shown in the attached picture with Barclay's Kate Wall Mount Faucet). Alma is also available in a 60" width with a drainboard on each side.

Linkasink's New Artisan Glass Sinks

Linkasink's new Artisan Glass Sinks are a perfect example of Linkasink's hand-crafted artistry. These elegant glass sinks are individually created through a meticulous process that involves many hours of painstaking labor. The glass is heated and cooled during three trips to the kiln to form the basic shape of the sink that ensures the strength of the glass, and creates a satin finish. Work also takes place afterwards when diamond bits and sanders are used to create the drain hole.  Each sink is gilded by hand. In total, it takes five days to create these spectacular glass sinks. The sinks are embellished with gold and brass leaf that is hand-applied to form patterns such as Stripe, River, Window, Églomisé, and Banded Églomisé. These feature different amounts of metal leafing - with the Églomisé having a fully gold or brass appearance. Églomisé (ay-glo-mees-ay) is French for gilded glass - a decorative technique in which metal leaf is applied to the back side of a piece of glass.  Decoration of this type has been made since the Roman Empire. Glass sinks are available in a variety of shapes and sizes which include rectangular and square undermount sinks as well as round vessel-style sinks.  The glass itself is available in white, black, or Églomisé.  Variations in the finish of the glass are also available and include a Crackle finish and a Bubbles finish.

Brian Danielson Joins ACS Marketing

Brian Danielson recently joined the ACS team, where he will be concentrating on the project market in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Brian began his decorative plumbing and hardware career in 1998 with OSA, a German multi-regional representative agency and member of the GEA Group.  Initially handling administrative duties for OSA's trade with the Hong Kong, Malaysian and Singapore markets, Brian expanded his focus to Russian and Eastern European markets in 1999, representing several leading German manufacturers including Dornbracht, Alape, Bette and FSB, building their sales in those regions from the ground up. In 2006, Brian moved to Moscow and took on additional duties as head of the OSA representative office in Russia, establishing the office and directing a team of sales, marketing and technical service professionals, where he personally led their commercial and hospitality project business. During the global financial crisis in 2008 and the years that followed, Brian directed his efforts to additional and growing market segments including SPA and Wellness. Working directly with some of the world's leading architect and design firms, as well as hospitality brands, Brian secured numerous notable properties across Eastern Europe, continuing through the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Forum and the 2014 Olympics. Brian currently resides in the Los Angeles area.

Hansgrohe's New PowderRain Spray Technology

Hansgrohe launched their new PowderRain™ spray technology. Developed in the R & D laboratory at the company's German headquarters, the innovative spray mode produces sumptuous yet efficient micro-fine droplets. It also delivers exceptional acoustic performance. PowderRain is available in a range of overhead and handheld showers from the hansgrohe brand including the Raindance S 240 with PowderRain Showerhead, Raindance S 180 with PowderRain Showerhead, as well as a Raindance Select S 120 with PowderRain Handshower. PowderRain spray is much finer than conventional shower jets. Instead of only one spray outlet per nozzle, PowderRain spray has several fine openings. Duravit's Vero Washbasins Featured at the Victoria & Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland

The Victoria & Albert Museum has opened a branch in Dundee, Scotland in a spectacular new building on the banks of the Firth of Tay by 64-year-old Kengo Kuma, which appears to rise out of the water like the bow of a huge ship. Gray in gray, like the cliffs on the nearby North Sea coast, it is made from thousands of wave-like stone slabs. The two building sections in the form of inverted pyramids provide free access to the River Tay on the ground and are joined on the first floor. The light-flooded hall, says Kuma, is intended to make visitors feel as if they are entering a Japanese temple. The 1,100 square meter exhibition floor is reached via a wide staircase, glass elevator and dark limestone floor with fossil imprints. Design Core Detroit, a non-profit that offers services to strengthen, grow and attract design businesses to Detroit, and AIA Detroit announced Advance Plumbing Heating and Supply Company and its design team, D Met Studios, have won a Commerce Design:Detroit Award in its inaugural competition. Commerce Design:Detroit recognizes 10 brick-and-mortar commercial projects, submitted jointly by the business owner and design team. Commerce Design:Detroit recognizes the role of design in increasing competitiveness of local businesses, spurs work by local designers and architects, and preserves the unique local identity of Detroit's neighborhoods. These spaces help to create a sense of place, and improve quality of life for locals and visitors alike. The winners of the first Commerce Design:Detroit Awards were selected from a highly competitive group of 37 submissions, representing a broad range of businesses, scales and neighborhoods. Developed more than 20 years ago in Montreal - another UNESCO City of Design - the program is now licensed in more than a dozen cities around the world, now including Detroit.

Duravit Announces the Winners of Their 6th Designer Dream Bath Competition

Duravit USA has completed the sixth edition of its annual Designer Dream Bath Competition, selecting one winner and two honorable mentions for both the Built and Unbuilt categories. For the Built category, which honors a project completed featuring Duravit within the last five years, the winner is David Gonzalez-Blanco of Billy Blanco Designs (pictured), with honorable mentions given to firms White Arrow and Falken Reynolds. For the Unbuilt category, which tasks designers with re-imagining their own bathrooms featuring the latest Duravit product introductions, the winner is Frevent Design, with honorable mentions given to OAD Interiors and AD-WO.

• David Gonzalez-Blanco, of the South Florida based firm Billy Blanco Designs, used the Duravit Cape Cod collection as inspiration for his winning Built project. Designed by Philippe Starck, the Cape Cod collection perfectly accentuates the Ontario home's bayfront master suite. The picnic table-inspired vanities are complemented by the soft curves of the freestanding bathtub and round washbasins, and Gonzalez-Blanco further played into the project's setting with elegant aqua tile.
• The Unbuilt category invited designers to redesign their own bathroom featuring Duravit's new Brioso and XSquare collections. The winning project, by Frevent Design, exudes a luxe simplicity, with the organic shapes of Duravit ceramics juxtaposed by the crisp geometry and modern wood of the furnishings.

American Standard Receives a 2018 WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award

American Standard has received a 2018 WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award recognizing the brand's years of award-winning efforts to develop and promote WaterSense-labeled products and encourage water conservation across the country.
